Open the tracks!

If they can open parks and golf courses they can open tracks. Even PA is opening tracks. Let's get Island Dragway and Atco Dragway, NJMSP and autocross locations open.

Island Dragway was open today for limited test and tune. Not sure how it went or how many people pre-registered. But, that is a good sign of things going in the right direction !

FYI, if you plan on going to Island (and almost all other tracks) they are making you sign a COVID waiver form. Easier and faster to do it at home and screenshot it to show the front gate.

I am heading there for Test and Tune in about an hour

I went to Island Today for Test and Tune
there were about maybe 25-30 cars so the lanes were pretty much open. I made 11 passes in 3 hours (2 hours 58 mins actually) ! Got a new personal best but didn't hit my 2020 goal of getting into the 11 second zone. Will post details, videos, photos in my car's build thread.

But it was fun. They closed an hour early because a short rain shower came by around 3:00.

They are having T&T tomorrow also and the weather will be a little cooler

Am I the only one who even cares about the tracks being opened??!? jeez

AutoX has also re-opened at the Met Life event. I got the email about it from the SCCA, while I was out on an ocean fishing trip. Tried to sign up the very next day, and it was already sold out and capped at the 100 person entry list. I got put on the wait-list. damn.

Was planning on going to Island dragway this Friday for Test and Tune. made some significant changes to the higher rpm fuel table and have a proper/accurate tach now too. Installed a phenolic carb spacer today to keep the heat soak off of the Sniper unit and it's self contained ecm. its a 4 hole spacer so it will help with the sniper "whictle at part throttle" and hopefully add some power too. Checked the weather, and looks like rain. I still will prep the car to go, hoping the rain holds off.

Anyone else doing ANYTHING ? anything at all?

Good to hear the tracks are opening up. My bird isn't going to see a track anytime soon at the moment as it has some "needs" and I'm getting a few things finished on the new car before its ready for prime time.

I was a bit surprised to see the price increase for T&T at Atco jumped to $75. I don't blame them as they are trying to make up some $ but not everyone is in for a $75 with a questionable number of runs. I recognize if we don't support the tracks they go away but I'm curious to see how this shakes out.

I'm looking forward to the UMI Auto X in late July. I won't be racing but will enjoy attending and seeing the great cars (and people) that come out. It doesn't look like it will be cancelled as of now.

No you're not the only one. Haven't posted since my 57 isn't an F body but took it up for the T&T a couple weeks ago. Street driven 57, three runs through the mufflers. I do have a second gen F-body I'll take up soon for some T&T.

Went to Island on Friday night for the test and tune event. There was a good amount of cars there. That was nice to see. $30 entry. I got 5 runs in, and would have got more but there was one vehicle that oiled down the track and cleanup lasted a while. And once things got going again, a really nice 3rd gen Nova who was running no-time passes had his hood pop open on the big end and it blocked his windshield. He ended up rolling the car 3 times and hitting the wall. So that cleanup took a while. Most people left after that, but I was curious to see if my slight tweak on the tune made any difference, and I stayed to make one more pass, which turned out to be my fastest of the night. cool

Also: the hazguy, it was nice to meet ya. I didn't get to see you make any passes, or I would have taken some videos for ya. Anyways, thanks for lending me your extra pair of long pants on Friday; I knew I forgot something when i was preparing for the event.. and it became quite clear when I arrived that I forgot the long-pants rule. Thankfully they didn't say anything at tech, and the track staff in the staging lanes didn't bother me about it either. So, thank you for lending me your extra pair, but I didn't see you the rest of the night to give them back to you. I still have them, I did not wear them at all, but I will wash them anyways. I can mail them back to you if you would like. I tried to send you a Private Message about this, but your settings don't allow you to get messages.. so this is the only way I knew how to get in contact with you.
