VandalizedThe Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC was vandalized Friday
night, September 7th. There were no witnesses to the act of desecration
which was discovered by a Park Service employee. The vandal appears to have
walked along the wall while squirting an oil based substance from a
container on the lower sections of the panels. The liquid discolored the
polished surface of the stone memorial and was absorbed into the porous
stone where the names of our fallen heroes are etched into the wall. Many
names have become unreadable due to the absorbtion of the fluid. On March
17th a large number of veterans and patriots gathered around the area of the
Vietnam War Memorial to prevent just such a threatened desecration by the
radical leftist demonstrators associated with the ANSWER coalition, SDS and
the Black Cloc. An attempt was made to deface the memorial late that day
but was stopped by National Park Police with several radicals arrested. No
radical group has stepped forward yet to claim responsibility for this
outrage to the memory of our veterans. It is unlikely any will.Link:

it is amazing that so many people who rant and rave about peace and freedom seek it through such disrespectful and illhearted means. if someone truely believes in peace above all else, they should hold no regard for violence on any level, be it for or against another for of violence or perceived injustce.
i have been to the wall, i am lucky enough to say that no member of my family who served had to get their name listed among those who fell.
anyone who feels this actions is justified needs to reconsider their stance on peace. is it war you oppose or soldiers? because i can't think of anyone who has ever signed up with the intention of killing or dying themselves, merely to help their friends, family, country, or sometimes merely to seek something greater than the day to day life we all enjoy.

i'm surprised i didnt post something earlier, i've been passing it around to those i know give a damn, and a few that don't

but still this is messed up.. it's uncalled for.. there's just no words to describe it
they should find this guy, and desecrate his grave so he can be shown the same amount of respect

as for the whole left wing/right wing.. i may just be another case of punk kids messing around with something and not knowing how valuable it is

it's a shame people die to protect the freedoms so many abuse

Left/right it doesn't matter man. There are idiots on BOTH sides. Plus how do you know it was someone on the left? Don't be ignorant, it makes yourself look stupid.

This is a damn shame, whoever did it should be locked right up for a long long time. Last time I was down there was a few years ago... gave my dad time alone for the names he knew on there.

what was the point of the desecration? i don't get it. you mess with people who have already died to prove a point about the current war? or was it someone who didn't know the value of what they were desecrating? or both? what the hell is wrong with some people?

something like this is far worse than burning the flag. it goes beyond intelligence, beyond reasonable thought, beyond reason really. alright, i am all over the place. i need to collect my thoughts on this one. damn, this burns me up.

Same here. I can understand the point they'd be trying to make by doing this. To me, this is not just defacing a memorial...it's like spitting on the graves of all the soldiers who fought and died in Vietnam. I hope they catch whoever did this. Although I did read else where that they're not sure if it was vandalism or accidental.

Speaking your position on the war is one thing, but defacing such an emotional and important monument....It sounds like it was thought out too

Damn shame is right. I don't really have anything to add that hasn't been said. Truly disgraceful.

Here are two music vids I thought I'd share. There may be a few bad apples out there but there are also a lot of people that appreciate those who fought and died in Vietnam:

Its a little too late to protest Vietnam. This action therefore does not even merit the rank of deviant protest, but rather criminal defacement. The only statement that was made was that the person who did this had a personal vendetta against a handful of soldiers that fought in a war decades ago and died in service to the country. I don't think he could have exemplified cowardice more stunningly.
