Serpentine setup swap.

Looking to swap the serpentine setup off my 89 to my 86 to get rid of the 3 belt setup. Going to be keeping everything, the AC compressor and lines need to get swapped, and the wires for that extended. Is it pretty straight forward swap other than that, or is it not even worth it?

Pretty straightforward swap, as far as bolting the brackets onto the engine. The AIR pump connectors on the harness should be the same...I started with an '87 engine harness (which was still V-belt) on my TPI Monte and was able to use a serpentine setup. I ~think~ you have to swap the power steering pump as well...something in the back of my brain says we had to change it due to the mount holes being in a different location from the original V-belt pump. It was a looooong time ago.

Thanks guys. The smog pump is long gone so no issue there. Someone said that they tried it on an older and didn't have enough holes in the head for it to mount up. How many holes does the head need, there 4 in the Edelbrock heads I have on there.

Was just looking at the ac lines coming out of the box and they are different. Dont feel like doing and evaporator so probably just going to leave the 86 alone.

wait, sorry i was thinking condenser as the lines might have switched sides. The evap connections are different? Huh. I don't remember how hard they are to change. IIRC they are like 2nd gens and the evap is under the hood. So I don't think its awful. Is the engine in our out?

You have to fully take the air box out to get the evap out, and at that the exhaust manifold is basically in the way so you have to take that off too. Ask me how I know.....

Yeah, don't think I'm getting into all that. Definitely want to keep the AC. Wonder if they make any aftermarket AC brackets that look decent and aren't $1,000
