Does it have a visible resistor pellet in the key?

you will need to hook a battery charger to your car when reseting the vats you will need to turn the key on the on position wait 15 min then turn the key off for 30 seconds then turn the key on the on position wait 15 min then turn the key off for 30 seconds then turn the key on the on position wait 15 min then turn the key off for 30 seconds then you can start the car and it should start if it doesnt reset you have another prob

They usually work for awhile after the relearn but you will most likely have the problem again.

The most common thing on the Grand Am is the key cylinder and housing. Not too difficult, but coding the key cylinder may be difficult if you never dealt with tumblers before.
