What y-pipe are you using... is there a size problem? What do you mean by they don't fit up?

are you using that S pipe that goes between the y pipe and the cat back, if i remember right, when i helped a friend do his headers on a lt1 you don't need to use that s pipe anymore. he had pacesetter y and lm1

Yea if its setup for a stock Y pipe, my cat back was, you have to cut the S out of it and it should be a straight shot back from there.

i have shorty pacesetters with their y-pipe. cat welded to that. s-pipe bolted to that. I-pipe clamped to that and so on.

Thats the legal way of doing things though. With LTs things change.

Oh me too, I have TWO brand new ones on the car. Granted they are in the trunk, but that still counts right?

I ended up trimming one side(y-pipe or I-pipe) and then got a 3" junction pipe from Autozone or Pep Boys and some extra clamps. I had to do the same thing on my old 96 SS. I hate the 2-3/4" neckdown on the y-pipe so I cut it off completely to run full 3".

I wouldn't even want to start the car up with longtube headers and LM.

I have LTs and the borlamouth setup. It really isnt that bad, just a lot of hissing noise along with the rumble. Cabin noise at 70 mph is actually quieter than it was with just the LM or BM because the tone is deeper. I ran the setup with the TSP catted y, and now with the ORY. Catted sounded slightly better. The noise is tolerable to 3000 rpms then it changes from freight train to thunder storm.

In what way does it not match up though? Crawl underneath and shoot a few pics from different angles to show us....

ill try and get some pics up but the y-pipe was too long at first so i disconnected the pipe above the rear axle to make the y pipe fit. After i connected the y pipe the pipe curving around the axle didnt match up.

If the y was too long with the rest of the catback hanging correctly, then it needs to be cut down to the correct length. Unless it's really close, don't move the catback around to try and fit the why, because it's just gonna create headaches with fitment around your rear suspension.

Oh come on, be a man. But if you must, with the borla muffler stuck in the pipes, the LM1 and LTs quiet down a lot.
