Thumbs up Got my ALSTON SFC installed today/WOW!

I finally got my main man to install a set of ALSTON SFC and all I can say is WOW what a major difference in the way the car handles bumps in the road. The car now feels like it has a MUCH heavier/ solid chassis and gets away from the Sunfire feel that bounced all over uneven and rough road surfaces. I have to say that the job done RIGHT (welded) does take a good 4 hours. First thing is to remove all the undercoating and grind the metal where the welds are going. Readjustment (a LARGE hammer)is needed to make for a flush fit. Next is having someone that can make welds that look like a factory installation. The galvanized metal (on the frame) was a slight problem. Also the mounting hole for the fuel filter had to be relocated. The easiest side was the driver. Now the passenger side required the exhaust system to be dropped and my Edelbrock TES headers made for some extra realignment. Some massage on the floor pan was needed to clear but for the most part the ALSTON design was a good fit. The ground clearance is on the same level as the dual cats (about 3 1/2"). I gave up on the idea of the Eibach springs due to the fact the car just barely made it up onto a drive-on lift and having only 2 1/2" of ground clearance means bracing for every dip in the road.

Thanks again. I went and bought a spray can of VHT Epoxy Gloss Black paint and schuffed them up. After about 3 coats, they came out like black glass. I like the ALSTON design because it seems it is more of a set-up for straight line performance whereas the UMI and other side frame designs are for handling. As I said, it made a bouncy/ shake ride now feel solid/ and actually quieter without the banging going over rough roads.

I don't have a lift, so getting good pictures is hard, but if you go on TGO and look up ALSTON SFC there are some pretty good shots of them installed and on a lift. They do hang a little lower due to their design, but are not as low as the cats.
