so its not the tumbler...

So i finally tore apart my column and it the tumbler is fine. but im not really sure how to go about fixing it. When i turn the key i can only get one click forward. it seems as if the the notched stick thing on the other side of the column is getting jammed up. Anybody know what im talking about or how to deal with it?

ign switch is at the base of the column almost, where the dash harness plugs in

a rod runs from the tumbler down to the ign switch, assuming 4th gen columns are similar to older ones in basic design.
