did a little tinkering...

...and ended up with an extra pedal to the left of the brake:

at 110k miles I was getting bored with the auto, and figured since I plan on keeping the car for a while I'll swap in the trans I've always wanted since 4l60e's really don't last all that long anyway.

swap included:
-T56 which I had rebuilt with carbon fiber blocker rings and steel 3-4 fork
-Zoom LS6 stock replacement clutch with resurfaced stock flywheel
-New pilot bearing, slave cylinder, throwout bearing, etc.
-Factory Hurst shifter with short stick
-Tick adjustable master cylinder

here's some of the remains of the T56 core I bought. It was originally in 98tadriver's car. Had the mainshaft, 1-2 synchro, 2nd gear, blocker rings, bearings(a few had exploded), fork pads, and slider keys all replaced:

My rebuild ended up WAYYY more expensive than yours should be. I bought mine in complete unknown condition, and it turned out it was just destroyed. If it's working pretty well chances are you'll just want new slider keys, blocker rings, fork pads, maybe new 1-2 and 3-4 synchros, etc. If there's no major problems I think around $900ish is a safe estimate. This mainshaft in mine was bad which I was not expecting and normally 30k mile bearings don't explode so I wasn't expecting quite this bill on a trans that supposedly just popped out of 2nd.

total was $1300, basic breakdown...

labor: $400
1-2 synchro: $130
2nd gear: $125
main shaft: $240
blocker rings: $180
bearings: $160
snap rings, shims, fork pads, slider keys, sealant, seals, etc: $75ish

I was hoping to be able to do bronze fork pads and billet synchro keys but I wasn't expecting so much to be wrong so I didn't have the funds. I'm glad I at least had the steel 3-4 fork in there already and did the updated blocker rings.
