CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Would a check engine light come on if there was a fuel pump failure in a 95 Z28??

was the car originally a dual-cat car? if so you have obd2...go 2 autozone and get the codes scanned for free

I don't know for sure but I'd say no. Unless it has a code for low fuel pressure? Damn OBDII cars are too smart for their own good sometimes.

My SES light came on when one of the clowns at a gas station didn't put the gas cap back on right. Low pressure inside the tank made the ECM think the charcoal canister wasn't doing its job. Simple fix, but cost over $70 to figure it out.

There's no DTC for a fuel pump failure that I'm aware of.

That's a normal thing when the computer sets a DTC.

OBDI...easy scan.

Get a paper clip, unbend it, and ground the ALDL terminal. Count the lights. Find the code. Fix the problem.

That only works up to the 93's. The 94+ cars that doesn't work.

All 95 LT1's are OBD-I. Â*There are no interfaces to the PCM for fuel pressure or for the fuel pump circuit. Â*The PCM has no way on knowing there is no fuel. Â*If the pump is just weak, it will run lean, and you will get a code/SES light for that.

And as noted above, only 93 can do the paper-clip thing.
