New Dodger Challenger Hellcat runs high 10s

It ran a 11.2@125 off the factory floor and a 10.8 on drag radials. I get to see these cars test everyday at work and can tell you they are wicked fast. I'm not sure if the ones I see have the production exhaust, but if they do, this will be one of the loudest factory cars every produced.

Like you said about the exhaust Im curious if any of these "testers" are actually production equivalent cars. Not that an exhaust is hard to change but as car guys we all know the tune could be less aggressive, still hit the 707hp peak number and be slower.

Im not doubting the cars capability but 10.8 is ****ing fast for how much those damn cars weigh. It certainly does sound nasty.

I see most challengers are around 4200lbs. 700hp will certainly push you to high 10's on a good 60' with that weight. I wonder if they have a factory cut out like on vettes or even a race mode like on c7's that opens the exhaust up. Very impressive car to say the least. Are they n/a?

I've seen the test cars up close and they are complete cars(interior is complete, under hood looks production ready, etc.)

10.8 seems about right since it's got an 8 speed auto. I'm curious what they've done to the 8 speed to handle the power level. Once they launch, there's a slight chance the keys may slide across my desk.

Adam, it's a supercharged 6.2L.

They've been labeling this car as the fastest musclecar ever built - technically its true, but it also has 700hp and is over 4,200lbs (probably 4,300 or more).

Stoplight warriors, yes. Not going to do very well on the road course, unless you count highest number of off road excursions.

I dig it.....

...for quarter mile jaunts however it appears the z28 or zl1 has more research and work done to the suspension to make it an overall better, albeit faster car around the track. What kind of brakes does this even have? Cool, yes...but I'd expect more for a car that will do battle w/factory built muscle cars like Shelby's and Camaro's....and him an srt guy too.

it would take a lot more than big brembros to have that boat catch the camaro if the track has a turn. But that does not appear to be the intent of this car, I don't see them as comparable in any manner.

i believe so.

i dunno, if my primary concern was drag racing then the dodge or the current ford might be my pick. if i were so disposed to buy anything from those brands, which i am not lol

I looked into it and apparently it is going to tip the scales over 4,400lbs - which is not going to give word class handling nor braking (Challenger is the worst handling of the late model triplets anyway).

Modern tech aside, the car is a heavy boat - a 3400lb car would only need 545hp to keep up, not to mention better handling, braking, and mileage.

Good looking car - may be a collectible one day. But not my cup of tea.

lol better than coming here peddling three ton tanks and posting links from GMI

I'm a Camaro/Firebird fan for life but this car is way better than any camaro/firebird ever produced. I wonder what the pricing is like.
