John, I would not suggest it in N. Jersey unless your planning on getting a sticker "the other way"

Make sure your laws aren't changing too. I just got shafted cause they passed emissions up here for the first time. Gonna have to buy another Y-pipe this fall with Cats. Just hope they don't look under the hood

teh "other way" is easier than you would think. just go to a local shop that does inspections. hardly any of them ever do an underhood inspection really. usually it is just a "throw it on the dyno and get it out of here" kind of a deal.
so as long as you pass the sniffer, 9 time sout of 10, they aren't gonna look for anything.

later

if its a 97, then it will set off the SES light and it will need to be programmed out. The OBDII computer will notice that theres no air pump anymore and toss out a code.

If you get the code turned off, you won't have a problem, because they don't even do teh sniffer on your car....it's OBDII, so they just plug in to the computer and make sure there are no codes.

Any car in NJ that is not OBDII gets the sniffer. Any car this is, just gets scanned.

Wow asked the initially question and forgot to follow up.

But yeah, ment to tell you OBD2 cars get plugged in, and you cant just have a shop slap a civic on the dyno and print you out a sticker8)

When I got my car tested when it was stock i took it to the free testing station by GCC. What I'm askin is if your talkin about an independent local shop or the state place that just checks for any codes? Because i just wanted to mention that they hooked up to the PCM terminal and also used the sniffer while on the running dyno.

No no..his car wont be on the dyno at all. OBD2 cars simply get plugged into under the dash to the inspection machine and the test is run.

The older cars you could slap on another car. And if you mean plug another fbody into the computer and give him the sticker..that wont work either.

MY question however is why remove the EGR? There is no performance benefits from it..EGR isnt active when your WOT anyway..

I just did it on the T/A. I will post pics up when I get it all done. You will need to order block-off plates and do a little programming.
