I need some help with future of my car.

Ok so heres the deal... im stuck with what i want to do with my car... soon ill have the 373s in the rear and i have my t5 in already... that takes care of what i want to do with my transmission and my rear for my car... so on to the engine...

Ive got a 305TBI which i WAS planning on high 13s but since then ive come to the conclusion that even if i achieve that with the 305TBI i still wont be happy because im going to want more... now i already have a new set of heads 081 casting from a 305TPI engine, a cam 97lt1, and injectors for the TBI (454s) and all i need for the rest of the swap is a gasket set and an intake manifold w/ adaptor plate + tuning. Now as good as all that sounds and im so close to finishing that, the engine is getting up there in age about to turn 148k . Im not real sure if i want to stick with the 305TBI and go 13s(if i can make it) or what i want to do... shoot me some ideas, ive just been really confused lately thinking about getting rid of my car to get something faster like an lt1.

if you have all those parts sitting thre already i woudl just go for it with that. then save up for a 350, maybe something like the gm performance parts 350HO or something. that would be plenty to put eh car into teh 12's if you cna find teh traction.
working on teh car you already have would get you a lot more bang for your buck than an LT1 car. jsut look at the price of LT1 parts compared to gen1 small block parts.

I just so happened to have a chip all ready for an L03 with 081 heads (minor exhaust port clean up work), edelbrock TBI intake, headers, and an L98 cam with matched 68# injectors. That Lt1 cam will put a little more breath in the top end and the BBC injectors will be plenty of fuel for 13's. I'm running small ass 65# injectors at ~28psi (100# now) and have fuel to spare.
The tricky part is the 305 and the 081 heads. They're no super head like a vortec or other fastburn so you're not going to gain enough (in my opinion) to get a street weight 3rd gen into the 13's. You need more cam and bigger (or better) heads. OR more displacement and better heads. Think about it, Lt1's (fastburn heads, Lt1 cam, and 350 cubes) completely stock with minor exhaust and cheap intake ducting are just in the 13's. Now try that with smaller less effiecient heads and 45 less cubes, not exactly "easy." With traction, maybe, but those heads aren't much better than stock swirl ports.

i would say go the route you were currently on...sounded like a definite high 13 second car and in the meantime build a 350 or whathaveyou.
