What Synthetic Oil do you use?

Curious what you guys are using. Last change was Pennzoil Platinum here...

I used Mobil 1 for years and never had oil related issues in any daily driver. Still use it in my truck & DD because Sams has it cheap, but they don’t carry 5-20 I need for the wife’s Pilot, so for that I use whatever is on sale at Advance Auto. IMO for regular street cars any brand name synth will be fine. With anything I think there is a bit of hype involved.

If I had cool cars like Josh that go fast and really tax the oil system I’d probably use Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil One or Castrol. Those seem to be the choices amongst pro racers.

Here, happy reading: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

Mobil one changed their base to a cheaper 3 series But still charge the same. Also the new base can cause some consumption problems. When we found out about this I looked at all of the major synthetic brands and found Amsoil to be the best for the price whichi s why I decided to become a dealer for their product.

Find this info both interesting and disturbing as I have used M1 in both my HPDE cars since new. Would like to know how I can get more info on the Mobil 1 switch. Will have to do some research on alternative products as we go through large quantities of oil during the normal track season. We change oil after every event (14 quarts per change). Anyone have any good links to tech data?

Funny, hes not the only one to say that, I was on ls1tech a few days ago and alot of guys have switched from mobile 1 for the same reason Josh was speaking about. Not sure if its common knowledge or someone tested the oil.

M1 is the worst oil you can buy. its all marketing and nothing else. i gave away my last 10qts of M1 to someone on this board, since i hated it so much. i wouldnt use it in my lawnmower. read up on bobistheoilguy.com and the many, many threads on tech about it. it is absolute garbage.

for anyone who STILL buys into their bullshyt, read the oil reviews and tests. its a fact that its garbage.

RP oil and K&N filter in all my vehicles.
Amsoil doesn't feels right. runs little bit hotter than RP.

I have used Mobil 1 for years in all my vehicles, but I am looking around for another decent synthetic to switch too. Prolly looking at Pennzoil Platinum - seems to get good reviews and do well enough in tests for the average street car. I always use Napa Gold (Wix) filters.

I can only find the German Castrol in 0w-30 or 5w-30, and I run at least 10w-30 in my 4.0 Jeep.
