t-top trim
my t top trim is gettin a little faded and it takes away from the car a little, i wanna try a little diy paint job on them just to make them look nice again...any suggestions?

i just did this yesterday. i did a quick job on it though. just used painters tape to mask off around it and i used carboard i had sitting in the garage to block the overspray

just mask off around it and hit it with a slight abrasive scuffpad, usually grey in color (you can find at any hardware store), then wipe it down with wax and grease remover on a rag...then a dry paper towel..let dry and spray away.

yeah but what should i use? i have a can of flat black and a can of clearcoat is that gonna be durable enough?

It will be durable enough but you may run the risk of running the clear or having an orange peel look when you're finished. The easiest would be to just get a can of gloss or semi-gloss black, whichever you prefer.

I sanded mine down and used flat black with no clearcoat. Looked brand new. Easy job to do.

i had a spare t top from my old camaro, i did flat black and clear, it turned out pretty good, i think im gonna do that

gloss black and clear is kind of redundant unless you plan on wetsanding/polishing it and want it thicker

i found the duplicolor vinyl and whatever paint in flat black almost matches a 4th gen interior perfect. it looks wayyyy better. just be sure to scuff the surface like ted said and it will come out great. they also make a gloss black, i wouldn't use it on the dash though. reflect in the windshield on sunny days.
