It finally happened

I got pulled over today in the camaro. The police officer told me the reason he pulled me over was because I did not have an inspection sticker on the windshield. Which I don't need anymore since Nov. of last year. N.J.D.M.V should provide something to put on the windshield to let the police know the car is exempt from inspection.

When I registered my car last year, they provided a letter and I think you can download it for free from the DMV.

I have a card which DMV sent me and I presented to the officer that I keep in the glove box. A small sticker on the license plate would be a good idea.

They should really have a sticker of some sort so the police don't waste time pulling over cars/trucks for no reason. I'm sure they will figure out something eventually but this is a really dumb situation.

You can't get pulled over if you just don't drive.

Not to hijack this thread and I should know this seeing as though I'm in law enforcement but is the law set to a specific year or is it once the vehicle reached its 20 years mark.

Anything 1995 and older is now exempt from inspection in Jersey. And there are no restrictions as to use of the car, as there is with a car registered as a classic/antique and running QQ plates.

It seems to be set to a specific model year, 1995. 1996 was the introduction of obdII as a standard. Now for inspections they can all just plug in and no longer need the tailpipe sniffer. Its basically just to streamline the inspection process.

Just got my worktruck inspected. They check everything, wipers, shocks, tires brakes. They even jacked it up and looked at front end.

They even jack up the front end and brake test on commercial pickups.

We took our 06 6.0 sierra through state last month. They slammed on the brakes, popped a line, passed the truck and said be careful.

It was alot of fun using the ebrake as a primary form of vehicle slowy down to our mechanic ...

Makes sense... We are going to make sure your vehicle is safe by allowing you to leave our facility with a blown brake line and passing it.

My whole deal is that if it wasnt me who can drive as safely as possible in situations like that, but say an elderly woman or something.

Don't be a hater. Why is it a bad thing that I take pride in driving an obscure 25 year old American car?

I'm curious, how is the build quality on the R/T? I remember they were pretty quick for the day but as I recall they were built in Mexico.
