F/S Red 1997 Saturn SC2 - SOLD

If your looking for a decent beater with great MPG, then check this out. Im putting up my Red 1997 Saturn SC2 for sale because I need the room in my driveway, plus it served its purpose; to be my one-in-a-blue-moon beater. This car has had 3 owners, me being the 3rd, and the 2nd being my girlfriend's. Let me state everything that IS wrong with it first.

1. The car once had a massive leak from the power sunroof and various weatherstripping, which is what i will get to later. Anyway, the leaks are fixed and since then havent had any water problems. But the lingering "smell" still remains. I plan on removing the carpet to air the car out, as well as the carpet itself, which WILL get rid of the smell. The smell isnt strong, but its enough for it to be noticed. Also, the trunk carpet is gone because the board that the carpet is mended to broke when the leaks started happening.

2. Kinda like someone on New Jersey Unemployment, driver side power window motor, as well as the power sunroof motor, decides on its own when it does and doesn't want to work. Although i think the only thing the power sunroof needs is the passenger side arm that lifts and pushes the glass back because it does look very worn out.

3. Its been involved in a "minute" accident. A little piece of the front passenger bumper has a paint scrape. Also, the car IS 12 years old... sunblistering in the clearcoat can be seen here and there. This isnt a ferarri nor the perfect car... which is why Im listing everything thats wrong with it first.

4. Passenger taillight has 1 of the 3 clips that is holding it onto the car missing. The part that goes into the 1/4 panel is being held in by velcro.

5. There is a pencil-eraser-sized rock "knick" right in the view of the driver side windshield. Unlike me, if you arent bothered with having a little thing in your way of driving, then it wouldnt really matter. It hasnt failed inspection, its been there for well over 4 years.

6. Shocks might be needed down the road.

7. Missing rear speakers, which I may have... I have to dig them up.

And more about that leak.... what happened is that there was some type of major blockage in two parts of the weatherstripping, which backed up water and eventually dumped itself onto the passenger side floor. The other leak was in the trunk due to the taillight clip being broken. Water got inside the trunk and destroyed the carpet and board that was there. If you are good with cutting carpet and a pegboard, then this should be an easy fix for you.

______________________________________________

Now, lets list the PERKS of this car...

1. Has a newer Panasonic Head Unit and speakers in the doors.
2. It gets anywhere from 27-32mpg.
3. Its got a completely new stock-style exhaust system including the cat.
4. New brakes.
5. New radiator.
6. It has had it's maintenence done on time, which was maintained mostly by ME (oil changes, tuneups, etc) everytime it needed to be.
7. Faily new tires.
8. Faily new battery.

If you have any questions, dont be hesitant to ask. I will answer them the best I can. My girlfriend has owned it since 2000. It has 141K miles and 80k on the trans (the paperwork has not yet been recovered for this due to the fact her father kept hold of the paperwork, and since he passed away, we cannot find any of the papers for the trans rebuild, so I guess you will just have to take my word for it). Inspection is good til Feb 2010. I will post pictures of it tomorrow.

$850 obo

Interested also. I'm guessing it's an auto since you said the trans was rebuilt.

Yea, i didnt mention that, its an auto with perf shifting. Ill get pics up tomorrow.

Oh, also forgot to mention, during really hot days, and once in a while when its cold, it takes 2 quick cranks to start it. It seems to be a random thing that happens. As far as i know the starter is still original so it may need replacing down the road as well. Sorry about that...

And another minor thing, driver seatbelt doesnt retract all the way

K, i yanked the carpet out today and aired the car out a bit. Ill post pictures up tomorrow hopefully before the rainstorm comes. I have two people outside of the forums interested as well so i will go buy who inquired about it from first to last.

Also, i didnt make myself clear on the power window and power sunroof motors. They DO work. The motor for the driver window sometimes becomes "sluggish".. it goes down perfect but going up it sometimes need a little push with a spare hand. The power sunroof motor makes a clatter, from what I concluded, because the arm that pushes the roof up and back is worn out. If you decide to "open it" its gonna be lopsided and a hellova time getting it closed again.

And Ive gotten alot of questions as to why it is priced so low, mainly because people think that it doesnt run right. Let me be clear that it runs like a charm. It's because I feel that the minor paint imperfections, as well as the paint scrape on the front bumper, and the problems i listed should be deducted from the price i was originally gonna ask.

Cheers.
