Question car wont start:Ford tuaress

Well My moms car wont start again, The last time it happened I pushed all of her spark plug wires down, then held the gas for 20 sec.

It starts fine, then wont idle. Im gonna clean the terminals tonight and change the spark plugs and wires, Shes also going to sears to get the battery tested.

The alternator is maybe 1 year old, what else should I do or check??

No point in getting the battery tested if the car starts up fine. Any codes?

So there was barely any charge in the battery, but it would crank over and start just fine? Doesn't sound right to me....

my parents had a taurus... i hated that thing with a passion. I was going home from school with my bro when it decided to shut off for no reason.... lost power steering and almost died. I got out and kicked the **** out of it. Then got back in and drove it home. Never drove it again

Those POS cars always blew PS lines. For one of the motors in them, the PS lines were something like 6 hours book labor. Yikes.

The only car worse is the Continental – an expensive Taurus with 1200 air struts.

it happened again at 7 in the morning, got woken up by the sound of a reving ford

its more of a wont idle problem, spark plugs fixed it for a bit, but even in the morning it would idle ruogh just not stall.

Im thinking:
its because my drive way has a huge rake.
vacume leak
tune up?
IAC??

Any/All maybe. Does it only happen on wet days like today? Or in the morning when there is heavy dew? When you did plugs, did you do cap/rotor/wires? Or dirty IAC passages, or low fuel pressure.

Any check engine lights?

It only happens after the car has been sitting for a while.

Basically, in the morning and when shes leaving work
