Jegster TA

Looking for opinions on this torque arm.
http://www.jegs.com/i/Jegster/550/40097/10002/-1

Adjustable and allows you to run an X setup. The only thing is a) its Jegs b) it requires drilling into tunnel frame.

Thoughts?

it is a really good one. People on TGO back in the day used them before spohn and UMI became as mainstream as they are now.

Have you heard any thing about the install process? I know it require drilling of 14 holes into the body, that kinda worries me.

the holes are small, 3/8 or 5/16. It will in no way hurt the integrity of the chassis.

Its a good torque arm, though it has a slip joint that needs to be lubricated every so often of it will seize up.

Well I meant more rust problems than chassis flex. Seems to be getting good reviews, I was expecting the exact oposite.

if you are worried about rust, hit the holes with some paint after you drill them, and seal them up with rtv or something.

Yea, thats what I was thinking, now if I had no reason to run this kind of TA versus a UMI one, would it still be high praises?

Im quite a fan of UMI, they make a really good product, but if the issues is exhaust clearance, the jegster arm is the best hands down. I have heard that they are only good to a certain power level because of their short length.

I do believe that UMI makes a 4th gen arm that is clearanced for LT headers and such. I would go that route personally just because it a complete bolt on and you dont have to modify the car to use it.

I am just stuck between, do I really want to keep the X setup and if so, do I wanna spend the money on a non namebrand torque arm, or ditch the X and get a more popular torque arm.

Yea yea yea, and technically, I have juice you don't.

When I get some money saved for this, I will sit down and think it over. Odds are I suppose I could get a cutout or something for loudness. I like the X pipe sound though.

Descions, descions...

I would imagine that it is probably better, if the arm it self is the same or stronger than a UMI etc one. The chassis mounted ones seem to have a weaker mounting setup that the Jegs one IMO. 14 bolts and an entire curved metal plate bolted into the chassis seems stronger than the chassis mount variants. And you can get em adjustable too. So who knows...

No facts, just my opinion:

The Jegs unit compared to UMI , Spohn or BMR doesn't seem to be built as well (no cross bracing between the two long bars). If you are looking to real big power then spend the extra and get one that is built strong! I honestly don't think the Jeg's unit is going to last on a 500+HP car with slicks. If the TA brakes it's going to do serious damage!

I have had the Jeg's unit on my camaro for 5 years as a drag race only car. It works very well in my opinion. I was told to set pinion angle between 2.5 and 3 degrees. My best 60' so far is a 1.746. thanx
