Is that distributor gear OK to use on a ZZ4 roller cam? And where was that purchased; GM, or a parts house?

It's a late model dizzy with an electronic advance for late model GM's (it's not from GM). I wasn't aware of a difference in distributor gear patterns from flat tappet to roller cams.

all SBC dizzy's and cams are the same gear pitch, so it would interchange.

That much I knew, but I'm pretty sure they used a hardened one for the factory roller camshafts. I went nuts looking for that info when I put the ZZ4 cam in my 355.

i have always used whatever gear was on there. never worried about it and never had a problem. i know with solid cams you shoudl ugrade because of the excess vibration that valve lash causes
