accelleration problem
Unfortunately this is my first post here at NJFBOA. I have had some trouble with the registration process :P. Anywho, to my problem.
whenever i go to accelerate in my 95 camaro 5 spd manual, if i accelerate somewhat hard, i will feel like a jolt. also happens when i decelerate hard. i do not believe its my transmission moving. i was considering maybe a motor mount? it feels as if the engine is moving a little when i accelerate and decelerate quickly. any suggestions? if anyone is in the hamilton / trenton area and would like me to possibly demonstrate it let me know. I really want to figure it out because i also think it is weakening my performance.

Welcome to the club!
Sounds like a bad motor or tranny mount. Approximately how far does the shifter move up when you hit the gas from a stop?

shifter doesnt really move thats the thing and a service engine light comes on every once in a while I have had it on a scanner and it wont read any codes... also, i started it up yesterday and it was really rough... the car would shake... i believe this happened because it was cold but even when its cold it shouldnt do that should it? and if it is the motor mounts is there anyway of me telling that was it before i took it somewhere?

Where in the Hamilton/Trenton area do you live? There are many of us around that might be able to take a quick look at your car in the next few days to see if it's a broken mount, or something more serious.

i have a 94 camaro 5speed and i know this one all too well it has to do with fuel delivery...when i did my injector swap it went away....it also may be the map sensor or the air charge temperature sensor
this is a 3.4 were talking about right??? i never heard of a 5speed v8

It would be a 3.4 or 3.8, and i wouldn't necessarily jump straight to conclusions like a lack of fuel. Unless it's really modded, the stock fuel system is more than adequate to handle the fuel demands.

if its the 3.4 the stock fuel injectors can only suple 160hp worth of fuel...now with a cold air or exaust the injectors become very in effecient and cause such an issue

I am leaning towards a broken or damaged mount as well.

just a tip...its not a good idea to keep your hand on the shifter while driving. it can prematurely wear out the plastic inserts in the synchros which later down the road will cause it to pop out of gear when you take your hand off.
i would go with either a motormount or even possibly a slight miss.

what kind of ignition does it have? is your SES light flashing? mine did the same thing before, it was a bad coil pack on # 2 cylinder

Yes, there is. Next time there is a code thrown (your service engine soon light goes on), immediatly go get it scanned. If it says "cylinder x Misfire" clear the code and swap the coil pack that goes with the misfiring cylinder with one of coils that goes with one of the good cylinders. The next time it throws the misfire code go get it scanned and see if the misfire has moved to one of the cylinders attached to the coil pack being tested. Be sure to keep track of where you are putting your plug wires during this. If your coil packs are numbered you will be putting them out of order.

does the SES light have to be on for it to read errors? because the light is off now but it does go on every once in a while and it goes off after i restart the car.

Some codes will clear themselves after a short time. Next time you get one, head to Autozone or your local parts place to get it scanned. They do it for free.
