who with a 4th gen is gonna take the plunge

yes it's extremely expensive....like why is it so much expensive, GMHTP said it bolted right up with no issues, so fitment is good. just curious if this is on anyones to do list

I would guess that it's so expensive because they need to recoup the development costs in a shrinking market, and that it's made of top quality materials which aren't cheap.

while i understand that, the story in GMHTP said kooks had been making them secretly on a case by case basis, so they had an idea on what was needed, all they really needed to do was make the jigs. i could understand 900 or 1000....but almost 1900 is a lot....ive driven cars that cost less that that lol

Definitely a nice piece, but for that coin, I'd prefer a custom unit.

a custom setup wouldnt get that expensive in most cases... and wouldnt require the added expenses of the "required" bmr parts

hmmm....I'll stick with my $200 ebay headers, $40 Y pipe, and $50 catback

it sounds pretty good but with headers and required suspension parts added in that costs nearly half what my car is worth hahah. after seeing what exhausts cost for m3's and a lot of new higher end "tuner cars" the price really isn't absurd, it's a quality piece and targeted at high end builds and show cars, so it's simply not for me

Seriously, go to Mufflex and get a system built for your setup for less.

It sure looks pretty though and I would love a set of headers. Maybe one day....

If you are going over the axle, I think you're going to need the Panhard Rod relo anyway.

Spot on. I'm starting to realize this now that my buddy got a C6 Vette. Even pads and rotors are exorbitant. Catbacks for his car are about what I spent for my entire exhaust, and everything on my car behind the headers is custom from Mufflex. Makes you appreciate the fbody a little more, doesn't it?

Edit: By the way OP, there was a thread about this unit before: http://www.njfboa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=53565 I still want to do the under axle dual system. As always though, other mods took precedent.

I had the bassani dual system a few years ago. I got it in stainless for $900. If I remember correctly, they also had it in aluminized steel for ~$700.

I mean, lowering the panhard rod definitely has positive effects on handling, but its just an added cost and weight in the back on top of an already heavy system. I agree though, meh.

Kooks makes nice stuff and you get what you pay for sometimes, it doesnt fit everyones price or needs but it a very nice setup for someone looking for a bolt on true dual. I dont think the price is bad either, my setup cost $1500 so for $400 more you get a true dual. I have their 1 7/8 long tubes and y on my car with a magnaflow catback and in addition to excellent fitment they still look like new after two years and two different cars. In my opinion its a great buy over the long run compared to cheaper built or non stainless systems. As for the required suspension mods, I would think that most people needing a true dual should be doing some suspension work anyway so that cost should not be an issue.

definitely a time and a place for quality stuff

tonight for instance though I came over a hill to find a nice 6x6" rock in the middle of the road, swerved enough to at least get it out of line with the oil pan and took it straight to the passenger header (which is about 4" off the ground) which resulted in a nice big dent. I looked under there, and just thought wow I'm glad I didn't pay much for these!
