If your engine called for 5W30 then use that oil. The first number is for when the engine is COLD. It quickly goes to the high number when the engine warms up, so especially in the WINTER it is better to use it because it will allow the engine to turn over easier!

How many miles are on your engine? Higher milage engines can develop leaks from synthetic oil due to the smaller molecular structure.

It will leak from the low oil sensor in the pan.

When I pulled my top end apart, after 70k of synthetic oil, everything was clean, no gunk or anything. Now that may be the case with regular oil too, but I say synthetic helped.

I would use the weight that is on your oil cap, also I don't know how easy it would be for you to get it or if you care ,but I use Brad Penn oil. It was highly recommended to me from an engine builder I know and even people I race with because I have a high performance engine. My $.02

Also depends on mileage too, on older motors you may want to think of bumping up to a heavier oil.

I use 20w50. I kinda like seeing 60 psi or so of oil pressure.. Then again, Josh told me to use that sooo I'm going to stick with what the enigne builder said..

Also ifyou race your car a lot, use the heavier weight oil. If its just a DD use whatever is on the cap.

Every engine is different. I use 10/30 or 10/40 in my race engine. There is no need to run a heavier weight for racing purposes. My $.02
