Question Keep TTIIs or go for something different?

I'm looking for some opinions on wheels. As some may have seen, I currently have American Racing TT2's (18x8 front / 18x10) rear with chrome centers and polished barrels. While I like the way the wheels look on the car, I'm considering something different. I would love to go nuts and splurge on some nutty $$ wheel combo but with the roads in NJ, I think a middle of the road wheel would suit me just fine. The TT2s are pretty heavy as well so I think a new wheel will help with all aspects of driving other than cruising. Someone has offered me a good price for my current setup so this has me thinking.

I like the Fikse FM-5, CCW SP505/500 but they are very very pricey. As you can tell, I'm into a 5 spoke design. The more I see the Weld RT-S in larger sizes, the more I am liking them. I have them as 15's for my drag setup and I'm pleased with the quality. I would go with a 18x9-9.5 front and a 18x10-10.5 rear with whatever wheel I choose.

Here are a few shots from those running a similar combo.

Narrowed rear on this one which I won't have

These are 18x11 on all four corners. Fitment isn't perfect

They are nice for sure. Just not convinced I want to spend $3,500-$4k for wheels. The design is very nice but almost a bit plain at the same time. I see some pictures where I love them and others where I go "meh".

All of the above that I posted are the same RT-S wheel.

Almost anything is better than better than TT's, they are Crager knock offs IMO. The Welds are pretty damn nice, about 3rd or 4th on my list. I would recommend the Fikse, but we can't have them on your car too

Yea I figured you would be happy. You are still referring to the "M" wheel though but yes they are very similar.

Fikse are more than I care to spend on wheels right now. As I said, I fall in and out of love with the FM5's and for that kind of money, I don't want to be on the fence.

They posted the new designs which look pretty nice but I don't think any of them would fit the style of the car.

I looked at them. Bonspeed had some OK stuff but nothing jumped out. Billet specialties has the Street Lite which I always liked but they only go as big as 17". Rushforth had some nice wheels but the choices I liked all had rivets which I am not a fan of.

That's a big no. Again, looking for middle of the road. If I lived in Arizona, I would go splurge on some baller wheels but not in NJ.

might want to call, you might be able to get hidden fasteners.

I will keep looking. I don't need to make a decision anytime soon since the damn thing doesn't drive.

This is true but I'm not a big fan of very busy wheels on a car like mine anyway.

Sadly in today's forged wheel market, CCW and Fikse are often considered. "middle of the line." Lol. IMO unless you step up to a forged wheel of some sort, just keep the TTIIs. No point in changing something up on the car that really works unless you step up to a nice quality wheel manufacturer. Just my 0.02

I'm all for the upgrade, but i'm just not sure I'm a fan of the black faced wheels, I think the chrome balanced the look on your car.

As mentioned, if the roads here were flat and pristine all the time, I would go for a high dollar wheel. The TT2s are a little soft and pretty heavy in the 18" size. The Welds are a forged wheel but like anything else, there will be quality differences.

No purchases have been made yet and likely won't be until it's almost time to get the car back on the road. I think I'm just looking for a change.

I've seen those before and I think the guy did a nice job with the overall look. The wheels look a touch "importish" but they do fit the car well. I could always consider a fully polished wheel in the RT-S versus the black face shown. Too many damn choices.

The Welds look great in person and would probably run 50 to 60% of the cost of the Fiskes, Forgelines, or HREs.

Honestly, I find most of the designs boring - at least the 18" ones they offer. The better looking offerings usually start at 19" and that is a bad thing on NJ roads.

The wheels look good, but at $3,500-$4,000 cost, you better be ready to drive around here with 25 mph being your top speed and a chase car in front of you to detect ANY potholes.
Also why not photoshop ALL the wheels you are thinking about and check out that look ahead of time?
