my mom asked how you rebuild a motor...

and after about 15 minutes of explaining the basic V8 operations, and bearings and rings..she chased me out of the kitchen with a knife...hey, she asked, haha

nice. my mom actually seems to understand a lot of teh parts of an engine and hwo they work. she started asking q's 5 or 6 years ago. hehe
i guess after watching both of her sons tear apart cars adn modify them she got curious as to what all the parts piled up in her garage were.

Dunno if its the same with other people, but all my mom is concerned about is... "will it effect gas mileage"

All I hear is "Will it run when you're done?"

My family still can't believe that the TPI Monte was built by me and my buddy right in my driveway, even though they witnessed the whole thing.

I try to keep my mom out of it as much as possible. When ever she gets involved, suddenly my desicions get overridden and I cant do what I want to do. I could have bought a 1970 Z28 for 300 bucks, she said no. then I was gonna buy a 1963 Ford Falcon with a 390 and a four speed for 400 bucks, again denied.

first tiem that happened i was in high school and on my parents insurance so i had no choice. after high school i started a policy of telling them after i made the purchase. it is harder for them to refuse once you pull up in the driveway.

yeah, nowadays I just tell my dad what I'm gonna do and he is almost always all for it.
me: I'm going to go pick up a motor and tranny tomorrow
dad: thats great!

me: I think I'm gonna buy another car
dad: sounds good

I guess it helps to have a gear head for a dad

my mom understands everything, my dad gets mad bc he says just buy a bike...and my x's were prissy girls that complained my car was too loud, why did it have to be fast, how it was unsafe because it lost traction when i got on it....damn i've heard it all...i just reply with why do you ask so many questions...or if you ever had to drive it, then you could worry about it...but somehow they always understood the loud stereo...which makes no sense...its still putting money into the car so WTF?
