I work over in Staten Island & while we didn't have off this morning, our office closed shortly after noon. Parts of Staten Island nearest the water were being evacuated, as emergency crews would not be responding to calls if winds exceeded 60mph. NYC is taking things very seriously, a few highways, bridges & tunnels were already closed, or scheduled to close at 2pm. We got out, before getting stuck there.

The ride home to North Jersey wasn't too bad at all. Nearly no one on the roads, and except for a "stiff wind," as V put it, it was very manageable.

I really hope nothing happens to the cars or house.

Boat anchor FTW!

So far so good, tent is holding up fine. No aeronautical Colorados here.

Ditto here, had one branch 3-5 inches thick break and land on the driveway. A few other smaller branches snapped but are still caught in the trees. Small twigs and branches are whipping around and hitting the house. Already lost power once, got it back, don't know for how long.

I've been listening to the Edison EMS and fire radio and they are staying pretty busy. A couple transformers blew and tons of trees are down on the roads.

Just called back to my family in NJ. So far my house is without heat and power. Also a tree took out my PVC fence and is about to fall on my pool. Cover keeps flying off my Camaro but the anti theft cord on the bottom is keeping it from blowing away...

Methinks it may have been a better idea to keep the cover off of it?

FAK! Power went out, so I set up the generator. 20 minutes later, big ass maple tree in front of my house splits in half, drops down and takes out my power lines and the cable. DAMMIT!

Got my mobile broadband set up with a USB wireless adapter, so I have *some* internetz.

I went to the food store about an hour ago, very peaceful.
Now I just baked cupcakes.

Watching TV and relaxing to the sound of the wind...

The sky is lighting up here. Transformer after transformer. Lost power at 7 don't think I'll be getting it back on anytime soon. I actually wish I was in emergency services tonight. My friend is sitting in a cop car blocking route 1 traffic off.

Tree took out power to the neighborhood and brought the pole bringing wire to my house down to a 45degree angle..moved the truck to avoid bisquick status...setup cones to divert traffic away from down power lines then to my sha-grim, one line was about 3ft away from me

...and all this done w/out contact lenses in and -10 near-sightestness.
