Exhuast opinions

So i finally took a look under the firebird and turns out that my muffler has committed seppuku and so has the over axle pipe. Also my QTP electric cutout has decided to go AWOL. So im replacing the Cutout and looking for a new muffler and overaxle pipe.

The pipe needs to be 3inches and i prefer dual exhuasts over quads. Also im leaning toward a muffler that isnt very loud since if i want loud i can open up the cutout. Im also looking for something pretty cheap if possible.

What do you guys personally like?feedback? any sounds clips would be appreciated. I already have a number in mind, just looking to see what else people may like

if you want cheap and quite, get a magnaflow muffler, if you want cheap and loud, get a dynomax bullet, if you want loud and expensive (and best sounding imo) get a borla xr-1.

Perhaps on LT1s, he has a truck engine.

My vote would be hooker

I second this....hooker aerochamber would fit the bill nicely.

I vote Hooker as well. Nice tone for cruising, but not insane. Especially with a cutout. Best of everything. They're not expensive either. Did you call up Corsa yet to see if they'll cover it under warranty?

Kirkevil has a hooker with a cutout, look up his exhaust notes.

i have a Random Tech muffler, pretty quiet cruising and at idle, but screams when you hit it.

Yes, I went from a loudmouth to a borlamouth to a hooker aerochamber and cutout. The hooker is one of the quietest aftermarket catbacks I could find and tone is still deep. Their catbacks are very reasonably priced, but they are steel, and heavy.

well the weight isnt excessive and when you say quiet were still talking about something decently loud right? its hard to explain exactly how loud id ideally want it to be. but i want it to be as loud as possible while still being able to sneak by the police, if that makes sense. And as always thank you in advance for your time and input

luv my magnaflow...relatively on the quiet side, but sounds great at wot.. nice mild deep growl... never obnoxious..i hate loud for the sake of loud

its got the 'just loud enough but under the radar' sound i feel.. exhaust set up is edelbrock shorties, magnaflow cat and catback fyi

In my experience with a few friends cars the hooker is pretty quite at idle, but does get quite a bit louder at WOT.

That's what I would hope, as you're paying a lot of money for one. LOL.

Yeah that's definitely true. I pointed out to him last night that he's liked how the vert sounded

The hooker does get louder at high rpm but it is pretty tame under 2000 rpm. The catback is steel and they paint it flat black to avoid rust....If you got it bare, that shiny would turn to rust pretty quick.

Magnaflows sound similar to the hooker, but they are louder at both idle and throughout the rpm range.
