Talking show update

Well folks we are now less than 8 weeks away from the 8th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show on Saturday July 10, 2010 with Rain Date on Sunday July 11, 2010. This will be our biggest and best show yet and I thought you might like a few updates.

July 8, 2010: Thursday 7pm Meet & Greet in the Hotel Parking Lot, Hang out & catch up with Firebird friends
July 9, 2010: Friday 5pm Cruise from Saratoga Auto Museum to Private Grove BBQ, reservations requested
July 9, 2010: Friday 8pm Show & Shine at the Fairfield Inn Parking Lot with Fairfield Inn Pick Trophy!
July 10, 2010: Saturday 9-4pm 8th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show at Saratoga Auto Museum (Rain Date 7/11/10)

I checked with the Host Hotel Fairfield Inn by Marriott and there are still 10 rooms left for Friday night and 10 rooms left for Saturday night in the room block. If you have not yet made your reservation, you must book before June 8, 2010 to get the show rate. This year you can book Thurs-Fri-Sat, Fri-Sat, just Friday or just Saturday night all at the same Firebird rate per night: there is no two night minimum. Call them toll free at 1-866-368-6900 and ask for the Firebird Show Rate. The Firebird Show rate is $119.00 + 8 percent tax for a king room or a room with two double beds. A King Studio Suite is available for $139.00 + 8 percent tax. All rates are per night and include complimentary deluxe continental breakfast and all amenities. If we book all available rooms in the room block before the cut-off date, I can get more rooms, but after the cut-off date you will not get the show rate and no guarantee of getting a room at the host hotel.

Here is the latest on the All Firebird Cruise which is a change from previously announced in the FNONA club monthly newsletter:
1. The Cruise with SSPD Escort will go to a Private Grove at the Saratoga Springs PBA in Saratoga.
2. FNONA will not charge $8 per person for the cruise as previously announced.
3. The Cruise will be free to FNONA club members and show participants.
4. I have arranged for Crazy Herb's Texas Barbecue to attend our event with his full car show menu.
5. All food and beverage items will be ala carte and payable to Herb.
6. Visit Crazy Herb to see his menu offerings and scroll down to see his Public event pricing: http://www.crazyherbstexasbarbecue.com/

7. The Crazy Herb food wagon will be available from 5:15 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. or until everyone is fed.
8. FNONA will offer a 50-50 raffle at the Cruise-In. Half to winner and half to FNONA to help defer expenses.
9. Following the Cruise, we will go south to the Host Hotel Fairfield Inn by Marriott for a Tailgate Meet and Greet. There will be a Fairfield Inn choice trophy awarded Friday night.
10 The Meet and Greet starts approximately 8:00 p.m. and will last until the last person standing has pooped out.

IMPORTANT:
1. Anyone who has already pre-paid $8 per person for the Cruise will receive a refund check from FNONA in full.
2. We ask EVERYONE who plans to attend the CRUISE to please send an e-mail to tsmith24@earthlink.net to confirm that you will attend the Friday July 9 CRUISE and eat with us. Herb has asked that we give him an approximate head count so that he will be prepared with food and staff.

Crazy Herb’s Texas Barbecue Menu:
Coffee $1.50, Hot Chocolate $1.50
Water $2.00, Soda $2.00
Chips $0.50 Candy $0.75
Hamburgers $2.50 Cheeseburgers $2.75
Hot Dogs $2.00 Sausage & Peppers $6.00
Italian Ice Cherry Or Strawberry Or Lemon $ 1.50

Small Sandwiches / Large Hoagie

Barbecue Pork $6.00 / $7.50
Boneless Chicken $6.00 / $7.50
Boneless Ribs $6.00 / $7.50

Crazy Herb will also service the All Firebird Lawn Show. That means you no longer have to eat just hot dogs. You can now chow down on hamburgers, cheeseburges, hot dogs, SAUSAGE & PEPPERS, BBQ pork, boneless Chicken, Boneless RIBS, Italian Ice, chips, water, soda, etc. It was time to give our participants a real meal as an expression of our thanks for coming to our little show! I hope you enjoy!

I am proud to announce that FBodyWarehouse has come on board as a show sponsor and Pete is coming up from Tennessee to attend the show and be a Guest Judge.

We also have a large contingent coming from the Ohio Firebirds and Mike Tyler and some of his fellow club members will also help as guest judges.

I am working out a deal with a new Jewelry Lady to appease all the Female Firebird Enthusiasts, accompanying wives, moms, girlfriends, and guys that may have to bring home a nice gift to appease a car show widow. She has a nice selection that I have previewed.

I am also working on a deal with a NASCAR memorabilia vendor to bring his wares to the show.

ALL FIREBIRD CRUISE IS NOW FREE WITH NO RESERVATION REQUIRED!
We have made a lot of extra room for Firebirds at our Friday night All Firebird Cruise, so if you want to do the All Firebird Cruise on Friday night July 9, 2010, please be at the Saratoga Auto Museum no later than 5pm. You do not need a reservation although we encourage you to do so and you still have time. JUST LIKE OUR ALL FIREBIRD LAWN SHOW, YOU CAN JUST SHOW UP AND BE PART OF THE CRUISE to a Private Grove. The Cruise is free to all FNONA club members and All Firebird Lawn Show participants. YOU MUST be at the Saratoga Auto Museum no later than 5pm. We leave at 5:15 pm sharp with SSPD escort with Lights and Sirens blasting. We do not stop for stop signs or red-lights. It is like Only Firebirds have the Right Of Way and All Others pull over and get out of the way. Last year one of the SSPD Cruisers blasted over a Double Yellow Solid Line at 80mph and scattered oncoming traffic to get to the front of the Firebird procession and stop all traffic at an approaching intersection! Opposite coming traffic was swerving off the road to get out of the way! You do not want to miss this.

New for 2010, we will have Crazy Herb’s Texas Barbecue cater our All Firebird Cruise at the Private Grove. See his menu here: http://www.crazyherbstexasbarbecue.com/

Crazy Herb’s Texas Barbecue will also cater our All Firebird Lawn Show on July 10.

If you still need a room for Friday or Saturday night, please contact Jerre Crouch (Fairfield Inn) directly at (518)289-3503 or e-mail jcrouch@fairfield-saratoga.com and she will try to help you. Room blocks are gone and show rate is probably gone, but call her and she will see what she can do. If you are a guest at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott, hoses will be available for washing Firebirds, free breakfast is included, a Thursday night Meet and Greet, a Friday night tailgate Meet and Greet with Fairfield Inn Choice Trophy!

The All Firebird Lawn Show grounds are on NYS property which is a ‘Carry-In Carry-Out’ NYS Park. Please police the area for any trash before you leave. If you bring anything in, we ask that you take it with you (except $$$ of course) when you leave. There are no public trash receptacles. Please do not litter.

As in 2009, there will be a $2.50 admission to the Saratoga Auto Museum for all show participants. This $2.50 admission per person will allow unlimited visits to the Museum and their restrooms on show day. You must get your hand stamped at the Firebird show registration trailer when you register and before visiting the Museum. As in previous years, the restrooms at the Park Administration building will be open and free of charge. On the same day as the Firebird show is a Corvette Show across the street. Admission to the Corvette Show across the street is included when you show your hand stamp at the Museum and purchase a $2.50 admission.

A Word to the Wise: This event is held inside the Saratoga SPA State Park which is a NO ALCHOHOL ALLOWED PARK and continuously patrolled by NYS Park Police, a division of the NYS Troopers. Radar & Laser are used on a daily basis. The Park speed limit is 25 miles per hour everywhere in the park. Please drive safely, be careful, and respect all park property. Park Police have been checking cars, trunks and coolers for alcohol and confiscate whatever is found.

The show grounds are a NO PET ZONE. No umbrellas, tents, alcohol, glass containers, and NO PETS OR BICYCLES are allowed on the show field. Umbrellas or tents are allowed only on the adjacent fields separated by stone walking paths. Chair umbrellas are ok.

PLEASE: NO BURNOUTS, NO SMOKE SHOWS, NO ALCHOHOL, OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS & DRIVE SAFELY!

REMINDER: Pre-registration IS NOT REQUIRED. You can just show up, register at the registration trailer, and join the fun & Firebirds. Have fun, win prizes, and see the Birds.

As we grow, our insurance requires a few more ground rules set in place:

All Vehicle owners must register at the show trailer and sign a release form. A minimum $10 donation to Special Olympics is required.

Vehicle owners please be advised that Special Olympics will not be responsible for damage to your vehicle.

Adequate space between each vehicle will be provided to reduce the chance of damage to vehicles. If any driver requests additional space, we will try to accommodate you.

Vehicle owners may consider roping off their vehicle to protect it from damages caused by spectators.

Vehicle owners should have someone at their vehicle at all times.

6/28/2010: If you have not booked your room and still need a room, please contact Jerre Crouch (Fairfield Inn) directly at (518)289-3503 or e-mail jcrouch@fairfield-saratoga.com and she will try to help you. Room blocks are gone and show rate is probably gone, but call her and see what she can do. See what the rate includes below.

Really am looking forward to going to this, but there is always a slight problem with car shows at this time of year and that's if it is still going to be in the upper 90's, it's not too much fun to move around or just sit and sweat.

9. The Meet and Greet starts approximately 8:00 p.m. and will last until the last person standing has pooped out.

New for 2010, we will have Crazy Herb’s Texas Barbecue cater our All Firebird Cruise at the Private Grove. See his menu here: http://www.crazyherbstexasbarbecue.com/

Crazy Herb’s Texas Barbecue will also cater the 8th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show on July 10. That means you no longer have to eat just hot dogs. You can now chow down on hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, SAUSAGE & PEPPERS, BBQ pork, Boneless Chicken, Boneless RIBS, Italian Ice, chips, water, soda, etc. It was time to give our participants a real meal as an expression of our thanks for coming to our show!

Tom.
