Are you talking the one on the trans or the speedometer one under the dash (VSS)?

on a 91 TPI (3.1L as well) car, there is only the speed sensor in the trans itself, and then the buffer box is built into the ECM itself. the TBI cars had a seperate buffer to convert the signal. i'll look for the sensor i had from a 92 camaro, like i just posted in the classifieds though, im not sure where i put it

engine size does not matter with the tranny sensor, the transmissions are both 700R4s just differnt outer cases for the bellhousing.

I was saying about the 3.1, that the V6 ecm is the same ecm as the 90-92 tpi cars (305 and 350) just the memcals are different. And inside the ecm is a "buffer" that converts the speed sensor signal from the trans to an output that will work with the elctronic speedo. in the tbi cars from 90-92, there is a seperate "buffer box" under the dash that does that task. There are also those same buffer boxes in 86-89 firebirds/trans ams, and the digital dash camaros.
