Wheel Clearance

anybody know how wide of wheel you can fit in front on a stock height 68 camaro.

nothing is done to the suspension except better springs and shocks. i want to try to fit a 16x8 or 15x8. any ideas as to whether or not it will fit. i know the bolt pattern. i just dont know the backspacing.

also would it help to use less of a backspacing to try to keep it away from the suspension and brakes???
