How the hell do you remove the harness through the driver side firewall?

there is a 7mm screw holding the plastic cage that the wires go through. screw goes in from the outside of the car... then there is few connectors to undo under the dash and what ever other nightmares you got going on under there...

lt1 may have the 7mm screw, ls1 doesnt i think.
As for LS1 at least...(all from memory)...
there is a 7mm screw in the middle of a large connector under the dash, left side of steering column. Once that's undone, it'll disconnect from 2 dash connectors. then the firewall pass-though block has a tab on top and bottom you push in and the block goes into the engine compartment. the headlight harness is part of the harness that has the wheel speed sensors etc.
I'll look at the Trans Am tomorrow to verify

does the screw go through from the inside? think we talken about same screw but its been 3 years since i did mine lol... thought screw went from outside of car.. ahh well either way its not that hard matt.. surprised your even asking how its done... good to see your workin the the car though

not really, it can come out with the booster still in place. removing it just allows you to get the wiring from the driver side abs sensor easier

Wheel sensors have since been deleted so no big deal there. Since FedEx sucks, I will work on this a little today.

It is one bolt, which was missing so I guess I attempted this before, but the harness needs to unclip on the inside of the fire wall. Its loose now, just gotta figure out what the **** is going on under the dash. **** ton of connectors.

I think that is where I gave up. I started taking apart some of the connectors but said f it and painted around it.

what ones you need to know?
as for undoing the underhood harness from the dash harness...
remove the screw shown in pic and unhook from metal bracket.
The back side will then go out through the firewall.
(pic is an LS1 car but should be close to the same)

yea usually each connector is different... i took mine out and dont rember it being that big of a deal.. i do remember that big cliup being a pain tho

all i can say is if you plan to pull the dash anyway might as well do it now..that would make getting some of the wires unhooked from tie downs and connectors easier..

lol those things are so brittle... if your worried about loosing where wires hook up then mark each side of connector with peice of tape and mark them with same number or letter... so 1 goes with 1...2 with 2... etc... good way to ensure you dont miss hooking **** up and tape will help you spot open wires you might miss putting it back together

there's really not that many connectors to pull when yanking a dash.
I've taken out dozens. ask jersey mike about how I am with dashes and connectors.
i can have a 4th gen dash out in under 20 min, no wires cut.
when you do it, let me know and ill come down to help if needed.
