found this thread on s10forum about different types of filters and how they are made. All i have to say is fram is never being used in my vehicles ever!!
in post 13 there is a link that compares a good amount of filters.

Oil and filters are high on the "Don't dick around and cheap out" list. Among other entries are tires and brakes.

I'm sort of thinking another oil filter study may be in order. That study was from 10 years ago. While what is in there is valid, i'm sure there have been changes in the oil filter industry since then. Is anybody up for a group collaboration? Say one member buys one filter, disects, posts up specs and opinions? And we keep it going with one member doing a different brand filter.

Does any one know if this applies to all Fram filters ie: the HP2 race filters. Or is this just isolated to the Pep Boys/ Auto Zone/ Kmart Fram Grip style filters?

I use AcDelco filters on all my cars.
MonmouthCtyAntz had an issue with a Fram filter. Sounded like a lifter leaking down at mid RPM's. He was able to isolate the cause to a restricted oil filter.

Though some here argued w/ me up and down about it...When I first got my car I did my 1st change w/ a fram and penn. plat...When the car was running for 15-20 minutes it was start to tap violently...Here we are 2 oil changes since and I havent heard the tapping sound since ditching the fram. I try to stick w/ delco now.

"The fram filter I got for free out of an old shed." --quote from the S10 forum post
I'm going to remain skeptical on the issue--we don't know exactly how old that Fram filter was, nor how it was treated, before he made a cutout of it. My father started using Fram filters years back, and I've used nothing other than them since I got my first car. We've never had a single issue with any of the filters.
