Throttle sticking wide open

Having issues with the throttle. It stuck wide open but the throttle plate is closed and the throttle cable is fine, cruise control is also switched off and the cruise control cable is functioning properly. Any ideas? The tps is new the only thing left is the iac.

Exactly its acting like its wide open but the throttle plate is closed. I shut off the car, grabbed the cable at the throttle body, pulled it wide open and let it snap shut, turned the car back on and it immediately revved to the limiter. Its only after being wide open that it does this.

It's revving to the limiter with the throttle blade shut? Or the blade didn't shut after grabbing the cable

The blade is shut, but it still revs like its wide open. Only after its been wide open tho.

If engine revs up to the moon w/throttle blade closed. Sounds like a huge vacuum leak, possibility the vacuum port at rear of intake snapped off or vacuum hose to brake booster popped off?
verify blade is actually attached.

Yes I did a run at atco and it was stuck wide open or seemed to be, I turned the car off, removed me floor mats and pumped the pedal, started it abck up and it did the same thing. I then got out of the car and popped the hood and grabbed the throttle cable and pulled it wide open and let it snap shut the car did the same when I started it again.

okay can you have someone start the car while manually holding the throttle body shut.
not letting it snap

The cruise would physically keep the blade open

It was switched off at the stalk. I guess it could have malfunctioned, its either that or the IAC that could be the issue.

Its intermittent and I cannot duplicate it, it happend once before a few years ago with someone else in the car, I assumed it was the cruise control and have since leave it switched off when not in use. This time it happened at the track and I stopped at the end of the return lane.

If so, maybe it is a vacuum leak, like Curt says. Grab a can of carb cleaner and your prescription glasses and investigate.

A vacuum leak only after a WOT pull? One that bad would do it as soon as I started the car, always.

If the blade is stuck shut and unconnected to the cable...it still hits WOT, how is this related to the cable, cruise control, the easter bunny etc?

He said he verified the throttle body was CLOSED while the car revved. The cruise box manipulates the blade. If it was cruise. The blade would open

Right, so, either a massive vac leak in TB blade, IAC somehow allowing enough air for WOT, or santa claus
