Exclamation Removing highway striping paint?

So I was driving home on 287 south the other night from up north and they were striping the road. I was forced to drive directly next to the truck while it was striping. Now my car has white speckles down the drivers side. How can i remove the specs without damaging my paint? Thanks for the help.

I do alot of work with the company that stripes most of the lines in NJ. I ran inot him at the deli this morning after reading this. He said if it was Friday night near an entrance or exit ramp on 287, it was them and they used epoxy rather than latex. He said the only way to get it off is to get it detailed. (I guess that means compounded)

I believe it was this past monday night and i dont recall the exact location. Thanks for the help guys. Ill try the clay bar, if that doesn't do it, ill look into having it compounded or wet sanded? I tried to take them off with just my nail and they come off but they leave what appears to be a small chip. Maybe I can charge your buddies company for the detail??

You can scrap them off with your finger and then use a rubbing compound and rub each spot until it comes off. This stuff is very hard and even lacquer thinner does not effect this crap. Just take your time and rub hard. Also if any got on your fender wells, just get some satin black paint and spray over them.

I'd contact the town and force the company to pay for the damage.

I think this is what im going to do. The spots are small so hopefully even if it leaves a blemish it wont be too noticeable. Thanks for the help. Damn road construction...

I would take plenty of pictures and put a claim in with the twp. It happened in. Clay bar will most likely get them off but leave swirls and small scuffs down the side of your car. Best bet would be having it professionally detailed and keeping up with the twp to pay for it.

If you don't want to deal with the twp I would use the clay bar to get off most of the spots then use a compound to try and remove the really small spots and get out the marks from the clay
