Wallowed Lug Hole - Problem??
Well, after almost losing this wheel, here's what I've discovered - the lug holes are slightly wallowed out. From the front side, the taper looks pretty good on all 5 holes, but here's how it looks from the back.
Now, the rim is hub-centric, so it fits flush right around the axle hub, and the lugs seem to have a good grip. I was able to torque them down to 100lbs. last night with no issue. I've only driven it a mile, and it didn't seem to have any vibration. Should I be concerned about this wheel?

as long as it doesnt come loose it should hold on fine. Just check the torque every so often. It could have weakened the metal around the lug holes a bit though so i would definitely keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesnt egg out more

I'd replace the wheel, Steve.

That's kinda what I was thinking too. I'm looking into what my options are now, since my wheel is discontinued from SLP. Gotta make a phone call to a board member.

yeah, i'd say replace the wheel. thats from the lugs all being loose and the wheel moving back and forth ever so slightly

CHECK THE BASE OF YOUR WHEEL STUDS TOO. THEY ARE PROBABLY WORN TO F*&k, HAD THAT HAPPEN A FEW YEARS BACK, IT WORE THE STUDS GOOD ENOUGH THAT 2 WOUND UP SNAPPING A FEW MONTHS LATER.

You're right, two of them already snapped. I decided to replace the whole rotor because I didn't know if there was any internal damage to it. New brakes/studs are on!

I'm assuming they're the 'acorn' style lug nuts as opposed to the 'mag' style. If it were me, I would drive around with it like that provided the wedge part of the lug nut is doing its job. If you lightly torque the lugs down, and try to wiggle the wheel around, you could probably tell if its safe. If it were me I would eventually replace the wheel though.
