what would cause a 383 with tpi not to have the power it should. I might be picking one up that was just rebuilt a year ago with 500 miles on it but he says that it doesnt have the power it should he wants a 1000 for it so i might go for it. Anyone on here think they would be able to give me a hand looking into it if i get it? thanks

most likely it is a combination of poor tuning and the fuel system not being upgraded properly.
fasterthanyou would be the one ot ask about the tuning thing.
a quick plug in with any data collection system would tell you what was going on most likely.

a general answer would be something alone the lines of the TPI choking the 383...blah blah blah it was designed for the 305 blah blah blah. i agree with tim.

at some point you get to hear that about every stock intake system, that is why vic edelbrock is a multi-millionare

tpi is a nice system over all. parts tend to be pricey and i think that is where a lot of people run into trouble. they see the economical stroker kit price and don't bother to factor in the cost of upgrading their fuel injection during the build.
