Talking Front Disc Brake details on the FORMULA

Just finished redoing the front brakes on the Formula. The Diamond Spoke wheels look really good, but hide about 95% of all the detail work that a nice 5 spoke wheel would let show.

The rotors are dimpled GT Rotors (brand), there is a chrome wheel bearing dust cover, Russell stainless steel brake lines and RED calipers. I know it's anal, but when you get bored, this is the kind of stuff you dig into!

I know it needs MORE BRAKE, but these are the stock units. I would like to install a 1LE front setup, but money is a little tight right now.

They don't come cheap, I tried. You're better off upgrading to LS1 brakes. Free floating rotors, parts are more common, can't beat it.

I vote for the LS1 setup as well but I dont think that set up will work with his stock crosslace wheels.
Got this from Bigbrakeupgrade.com

The LS1 brake kit will fit all stock style f-body 16" wheels, except for the TransAm/Firebird crosslace wheel. To use this wheel, minor clearancing or the use of a wheel spacer will be necessary.

Yup, the crosslaces require a spacer...not a very large one, but still. I had planned for an LS1 brake upgrade on my '87 at one point, but after I found that out, I ditched the idea.

Looks good as said tho needs bigger brakes.. (like the pic below)

and the spacer size is .1875 thick.. err 3/16th's Basically the size of the spacer on the rear brakes on some of the later year drum brake cars.
