Yep. I don't know why somebody would curl in a power rack if there's a preacher curl bench nearby. Most of the guys curling in the rack have crappy form with their back swaying as well.

Preacher curls are horrific. They make me feel weak.

That's what strict form will get you.

On a preacher bench it's harder to cheat since it's a more concentrated exercise than a standing curl. So you feel like a bitch since you can't do as much weight as a standing curl.

Basically if you feel weaker in the preacher bench your cheating even just a little bit when your not.

Anyway for my little post I used to be in excellent shape (never a huge guy but was very toned as i was a runner and b ball player in school)with right around 7.5-8% body fat after reading these posts im not going to give the exact number and be called a liar etc.

I recently started getting back into shape which is rough working as many hours as i do. But i made the commitment and have been in the gym 6-7 days a week for the past month or so... proud to say im back up to a steady 3 miles in 22 minutes as well as my other cardio and lifting regimen. Not looking to get huge like most of you guys just looking to gain decent amount of strength while getting my definition back (in reality that means the girlfriend wants the 6 pack back) and maybe a bit of size in my upper body

Chances are you are using too much weight then. Your muscles can't hold it so your tendons/ligaments are taking the stress.

1 hr before your workout get 100mg of caffiene
30mins before your workout take 5g of creatine
10mins before your workout take 1 scoop of protein
During your workout drink a high carb drink like gatorade

You can buy it at most places.

Personally, I will not go to GNC for anything other than a RTD can of protien. They have always been very overpriced. Recently they did a PR blitz to show that "hey, we don't rape you as hard" but I still don't buy from there.

Bodybuilding.com or Vitamin Shoppe is where I go for protien and joint pills. I get my creatine straight from Met-Rx since nobody else seems to carry it.

The only other thing I have to say is don't be one of those guys that is just starting out and buys a friggin Ronnie Coleman supplement stack expecting to get huge overnight. When you just start out you need to learn to lift correctly to prevent injury, and you can probably be fine with protien and a vitamin. You can and will **** up your internal organs (kidneys and liver) if you take stuff that you don't know how to correctly use yet.

JMO.

I am wary to start taking creatine straight. Had a kid in HS that became dependent on taking supplements... which is why I like the pre mixed stuff... super pump, xplod etc... And I get all my stuff through Vitamin Shoppe, dunno why I said GNC.

The dependency sounds mental. There is actually a psychological term for something like it but I forget what it is, but it's basically "fear of smallness" and it can effect males like anorexia or bulimia can effect females.

See, I always put creatine at a safer place on my list than super pump and any NOx boosters. You don't have to take it at the dosage they reccomend to get the effect and all you have to do is be sure to stay hydrated.

No like if you take TOO much creatine, your body will stop producing it and you will need to take supplements all the time even when not lifting. Or something like that. I don't take the full dosage for Xplod and I get a good workout in, so I guess its just individual. I will most likely end up getting more xplod cause I am lazy. But with school and work, I will not be able to lift as much.....

And the sucky part with the Xplod stuff and I assume all "pre workout" stuff, is the massive caffeine levels. If I lift later than like 6 I am up all night staring at the ceiling.

Yup. Even then you have to get a good postworkout meal in and that will keep you up as well.

So whats a good tricep exercise? Right now I just hang a dumbbell behind my head but I am curious if there are any better ones. Keep in mind I lift at home. So all free weight stuff.

I lift as home as well. Skullcrushers have been good to me- just make sure you don't overload the weight or you will injure your elbows.

Yea, and since I lift most of the time home alone, I am hesitant to do skull crushers, with a large weight its a bitch to get set up by your self. Granted I guess I bench without a spotter so I guess I'm living on the edge anyways...

You just have to be a bit more conservative with the weights you use. Don't go heavy until you feel good and ready.

close grip BP, floor press, and using bands and chains all help with lockout power
