I'm out of flashlights, generators, running low on batteries, gas cans, and power inverters.

There was an emergency conference call today talking about a late Sunday shipment of generators and other supplies, but now it's up in the air. Last thing we need after a storm is a bunch of generators returned.

last heavy rain storm i got 7 inch of water in a car totaling it out,,, no flood insurance so i was beat, almost 4 feet of water in the street, so i got to make some calls to see if i can find a place to park a car on a trailer as well as the 24 foot inclosed trailer, also going to call a storage place and rent a storage unit to put the silverado ss inside, then fill it up later with stuff from the garage since i got in trouble with the town for having a mobile attic in the driveway.. anywhere on property with out a permit,, total bs.

You jersey shore types better pepper your anguses.

Stay high and dry, folks. Official state of emergency in NJ.

I've got to fill my gas cans tomorrow when I get home from work, other than that I'm good.

Shop rite by me was out of water, soup and assorted other "emergency" rations.

Good thing the liquor store was devoid of people and full of tasty stuff.

^^^

Shop-Rite & Super Wal-Mart was something like... Black Friday today. The Shop-Rite by me was also out of canned goods. Savages. I saw a fluffy woman with nothing but about 2 dozen bags of extra puffed marshmallows in her cart, thats no lie.

I caught the tail end of the hurricane when I was in San Juan PR on Thursday. Nothing spectacular. Then flying above the hurricane... that was pretty cool.

My Mom was saying the same thing, everything was gone at the Shop Rite. Including fresh fruit and veggies....(they're gonna go bad anyway if we lose power....morons), we have some liquor, but no beer, I'm broke enough as it is, so not buying beer just for the storm. Also I filled up the gallon can with 2 stroke oil and gas, so we can cut ourselves out if needed. Filled up the GTA and Outback while I was at it. I was informed by one of the guys pumping gas, that people were literally fighting over the pumps, not long before I got there.....what is wrong with people, its a hurricane, not the apocalypse....

I got my truck loaded up with my chainsaws, I'm set to go just about anywhere.

My biggest concern is loss of power at one house where there is a sump pump. Ill probably be there every few hours checking on it.

LT1 boat anchor jokes ... even after 15 years they are still funny ....

As for this storm, I'm really thinking the media is just over hyping it. When Irene came through last year, we lost power for a day and that was about it.

people are comparing this to the Halloween storm we had last year and the long widespread power outages many areas had afterwards.

However, this is NOT like that storm in most ways, one being that its not heavy wet snow and 2, the trees last year still had the majority of their leaves and only a few had turned and fallen. Tonight, when the winds come, it'll strip most of the remaining leaves off the trees and then the bare branches wont have as much stress on them, like they would with heavy snow or even like in a summer thunderstorm.

There may be flooding in low lying areas but that's already expected.

at my house i'd say 90% of the leaves are down. if you go up the street though where it's not as windy there's only 60% down. it all depends on where you are and the types of trees you have.

But yea V is right. I cant imagine this storm being nearly as bad as last years. but then again wtf do i know

I think another thing we have in our favor (at least for me) is that the ground is pretty dry. I checked my sump pump well and it was dry, i poured some water in there to make sure the pump was still working. Good thing I checked, the GFCI was tripped when I checked a little while later the rest of the water that was in there the pump cant get out was gone. I have a high water table where I am, so this is good news for me, a least the ground will be able to hold a lot of the water we are expected to get
