how many points does that violation put on your license?

my favorites, and the ones i would concentrate on if i were a cop (in addition to speeding 30+ over the limit (which brings 5 points)). and i'd try to sneek in a careless/reckless every chance i got.

39:4-82 Failure to keep right - 2
39:4-97.1 Slow speed blocking traffic - 2

racing on the highway is listed twice, but each listing brings 5 points. it's amazing the laws that they have on the books already. why not stop inventing new laws and enforce the ones we already have? what a novel idea.

the rest of them are here.

I think they prefer to just ride up on people's asses until they move to the right...and again...they are usually in the right hand lane & probably dont see whos going the slowest when they are doing 90 past everyone in the fast lane...noble idea to uphold the current laws good luck in finding cops that will. Apparently most are in too much of a rush to get to their speed traps to worry about the cars 2 feet in front of them

27:23-29 Moving against traffic. Let me tell you something, if you're driving the wrong way down the highway, you need more than just a ticket.

39:4-128.1 Improper passing of school bus.

39:4-128.4 Improper passing of frozen dessert truck. What!? LOL

39:4-89 Tailgating 5 points

If i had a nickel for every cop who did that....I'd be one rich mofo. There'd also be a lot of cops with no licenses.

39:4-99 Exceeding maximum speed 15-29 mph over limit 4 points

Exceeding maximum speed 30 mph or more over limit 5 points

if i had a penny for every cop who did either of those, i'd be about 10 times richer than before.

I really want a cop to be tailgating me if some little kid jumps out or something and I have to suddenly slam my brakes...

Eh, pleading it down to unsafe driving might not always be the best route anymore... there is an insane surcharge attached to it now. I can't remember all the details, but for some people, it might be more worthwhile to take the 2 points rather than the more expensive ticket and the surcharge (I think it was like, $500 for the surcharge, plus the $250ish something for the ticket).

This is not good... Joe is not down with the laws.

On a totally other random note, I got out of an insane speeding ticket on the parkway this week... let's just say the speed had 3 digits in it. I won't post where. lol

If you double the speed limit the cop can arrest you and your license is revoked on the spot.

N.J.S.A. 39:4-14.3(d) More than one person on a motorized bike. 2 points

So that extra seat is for my dog?

http://www.njlaws.com/action_on_stee...and_curves.htm
I'm guilty of this one. On the penn turnpyke I've thrown the car in neutral to coast a few miles... infact it was accelerating and I had to use the brakes... a little .

N.J.S.A. 39:4-129 Leaving the scene of an accident No injuries. 2 points
Ah... WTF. So if it's my fault in an accident where nobody is hurt I'll only get 2 points IF I GET CAUGHT? Isn't that a little too low. 8 points if there are injuries!

this one has the fines and insurance points listed, too: http://www.njlaws.com/traffic_minimum_penalties.htm

dunno why the insurance industry has to have their own point system. probably so they can keep the points instead of them falling off three years from the date of conviction. fuggin insurance companies suck the big hairy donkey dick.

i think that one has more to do with tractor trailers and other vehicles with a GVW over 20,000 pounds. they tend to accelerate a lot faster than a passenger vehicle on a downgrade...

yes, it does seem low. they should just revoke your license if you leave the scene and there is personal injury, though. i guess they figure they'll be writing other tickets, enough to get you over 12, if they write that one. if you've got 2 or 4 and they add 8, then they just need one more to push you over. then it takes forever (it seems) to get them off your license...

I read a news story about North Dakota banning the use of information from the vehicle's computer when insurance companies are charging people premiums. Apparently the insurance company finds out how fast the driver goes in the car, as well as other information, and jacks up their prices accordingly. North Dakota's legislature isn't having any of that, and they will be the first state to ban such practices.

to many kids

does anyone know what the fin/penalty is for having to many kids in the car prior to age 18? is there points involved? i am getting my liscence soon and all my friends who have like cav's and honda's,volks, have cheap ass insurance as it is so they dont care about tickets (plus there parents give them everything lol sux). i dont want to be a "B*tch" when i get my liscence and not give kids rides but i also dont wanna get a ticket for to many kids in the car. IMO i would rather get screamed at from my parents for something alittle more major lol.

I don't know what the exact fine/points are, however I do know that you have to tread lightly when you are on that provisional license. I think it only takes a few points to get it suspended....
