Question car covers?

cant bring car to college just yet, so for now it'll have to sit in the driveway. needless to say i want to protect the finish as best i can, i cant nag anyone to wash it once a week like i usually do soo..

what do i look for in a car cover? i looked at pep boys they had 2, one for 50$ that was WP and consited of 2 layers, and another that was WP and made of 4 layers, inner layer made of fleece all for 100$.

and is there anything else i should do? my parents said theyd take it once a week and keep it fresh so it doesnt sit too long

Thanks for any input

i like the wolf covers. they are custom fitted to the car so it tucks in real nice. mirror pockets and all. just take off your antenna and put some tape or cover around the threads so it doesn't tear the cover. if its parked somewhere near an electrical outlet, i'd get a trickle charger for it. also, throw some dryer sheets in it and it will smell delicious

Go with the Wolf Premier, have had one on my third gen since last September, best car cover i've ever owned. Had the pep boys $50 cover, it started to melt and disintegrate after it sat in the sun for a few week (was made of the so called "parachute" material).

i think it was about 400, def worth it for me, considering the car sits the majority of the time and it prevents mildew and corrosion, keeps away insects and rodents, and doesn't allow anything to bump into or rub on it.

www.carcapsule.com

as of now its been in there almost 9 months straight... poor SS... 23 days till freedom!!!

I used to cover one of my Montes before I had a garage for it. After one winter with some heavy snow and ice, the little bit of rust that was on the body got much worse, since the cover trapped the moisture and accelerated the rusting process. IMO, if you have to leave a car outside, just put a few coats of wax on it and let it be. Road salt is the real killer for a car's finish, so if it's not being driven more than around the block a few times a month, no need to worry about it.

Again, it's just my opinion, but I'd hate to see the cover damage your paint.

so even though they claim waterproof and breathable you guys are saying theyre not? or when theyre coverd with snow? <- id understand if snow compromised the breathability part or a car cover . . .

mainly since its nice out it can stay uncovered, but come fall i dont want dead leaves/acorns/fall cleanup touching the car (usually id move it but im 410 miles away)

Cool

Update:

So I bought the $100 cover from pepboys about a month ago and so far I'm satisfied! car stayed clean no damage on the paint and it pretty much covers everything down to the bottom 1/4 of the wheels. Fleece lining is nice also keeps the interior cool in the sun
