a short? best bet get a new harness and rewire everything, RS = TBI so the harness is pretty cheap used off ebay and pretty simple to wire up too

yo man that sucks about the fire, but you'd rather be safe than sorry...
i know summit and jcw sells painless woring kits far all sorts of intakes and cars, my dad bought one for his '67 fastback and it was a life saver! all the wires were labeled where they go and what they do... check it out. its well worth the money...

if you do go carb'd its easy to do with whats probably left of the stock harness. But maybe thats just how i feel, I love wiring, its just something i enjoy doing. If you need any advice/help let me know.

I would research what happened first. Hot wires can be bad grounds (thus overloaded circuits), shorts (to ground, in components, etc.). My 1st car melted the shifter cable – because there was no ground other then the battery to the inner fender. So the shifter cable became the ground and burned up.

What harness got hot? Was it even EFI wiring? Not headlights, etc.? Why didn’t any thing pop (fuse, links, etc.)? I’d determine the cause first, and then decide on a resolution.

Wire the fans correctly.

If your ECM does not have fan triggers, you can substitue 2 different temp fan switches. The 3 relay setup is a better bet.

Why change the ECM, what does that have to do with anything?

I say this because I have done my share of chasing wiring issues.

Um, ok. Make sure you use heavy gauge wire (like 6) and a toggle that can handle the amperage (30+ amps, probably more). You can use a toggle with relays as well. Then you don't need heavy gauge into the car or a high amp switch.

EFI really likes consistent temps, I would suggest using a more automated setup.

Just get a painless harness and rewire the car. alot easier than hacking up a harness from another car

What part of the dash/what wires? The ECM stuff on the RH side, or the rest of the car on the LH side?
