messed something up on the way home. what do you think?
on my way home my car started jerking to the right. i got out to check for flats but found nothing. thought maybe i warped a rotor, so i gave it another go. going 5mph i hit a tiny bump and the car went kaboom from the rear right and shook back and forth like ppl were rocking it.
the rear right makes noises now and the car bounces back and fourth with every tiny bump. could it be a blown shock?
i did swap my lca's back to stock recently but the bolts are still tight and it's driven flawlessly since.

best bet . lift the car from the body and shake anything under the car to replicate the feel or noise

you have c clips still or aftermarket rear? some rears the brake backing plates get loose and the axle will literally come out and the car will move side to side. I had this issue at first, nothing some red loctite didnt fix. I can still get to them and heat them with a pencil torch to loosen the loctite if i need to pull the axles.

stock rear. i'll check that, sounds somewhat similar to my symptoms. the car just feels mushy. not like ahhhhhh i'm gonna die. but if you hit any variation of a bump you get a bang and a gentle shaking back and forth.

Sounds like a bad shock since you are complaing of going over a bump and having it crash down.
Id deff. check it out with a local shop, have them look it over.
You looked and saw that both LCA's were still attached and nothing was visually hanging from the rear?

nope everything's still there and tight. i'm hoping it's just a shock. i've been waiting to install my new springs/shocks for a while anyway.

Certainly check your LCA's I snapped a bolt once back their and it feels like it lofts in the air at anything over 25, and especially when you shift gears (slowly)

found out my tire pressure in the right rear was 10lbs lower than everywhere else. that's probably why it was pulling and felt a little mushy. i think i have a bad bushing somewhere or maybe the shocks just dying. don't think it's anything major after all.

Mine did that when one of the rear control arm bushings deteriorated to where there was to much clearance between the bushing and housing..
You can check for that by grabbing the control arm close to where they are mounted and try twisting it on both ends..
*edit never mind you have aftermarket arms..

Just push down quickly and firmly on the back of the car at the corner where you are having trouble. If the shock is good, it should rebound and settle pretty quickly. If the shock is blown or very work out, it should bounce up and down a few times before it settles.

sounds like a panhard bar issue to me...that would explain the rockin side to side....it could have been bad before and if ashock went that would amplify it

It might also be the POSI unit. Could be that the clutches are shot and they are grabbing on and off. I don't think a blowout in a shock would cause that problem. It would cause an up and down bounce, not a side to side!

Ed:
I am fairly certain that his car does not have a traditional clutch type posi. I think it's a cone or torsen style.

I second that thought. We chased a problem on a 97 Z28 and it turned out that the bolts for the panhard were loose.
