timing chain clearance

hey guys, has anyone used a clloyes true double roller timing chain and had problems with it clearing the factory timing chain on an lt1? its a 96

Yes (assuming you meant to say timing "cover" instead of timing "chain.").

On the back of the timing cover near the water pump seal, you'll see there are some tabs that extend toward the block. Those need to be completely removed and grinded down. The chain will come close to hitting the cover in other areas as well. What I did is put a dab of grease on the chain, installed the cover, and turned it 2 revolutions by hand. Wherever the grease made a mark on the cover, I grinded it down.

Aside from the tabs at the top of the cover, I had to remove surprisingly little in other areas.
