Garage A/C

So while I have aspirations of moving in 2-3 years to a place that fits my wants a bit more, I decided to pull the trigger on a proper AC unit for the garage to make my stay a bit more comfortable. The unit installed is a 24,000 Btu Fujitsu mini split heat pump with heating functionality. I'll be removing the 150,000 Btu gas heater (Yes I know it is grossly over-sized) and selling it along with the 12,000 Btu portable AC unit I also had.

MD Sheds (Joe) came by with his electrician and knocked out the install with excellent results. It's refreshing to see people who just know what they are doing as they made it all look very easy while providing a professional result. Within about a couple hours after install, the garage was 68 degrees from 80+ that day. Maybe the most surprising aspect of the unit was how quietly it operates.

I had arrangements to finalize the detailing of the Caddy a couple days post install with a forecast of 90+ degrees. Over those two days, the garage held its set point of 70 degrees with no issues and I could have made it even colder if I wanted. The detailer and I were very very pleased.....and comfortable.

Garage work will be a little easier this summer!

Shrugging your shoulders will now be more so because of the chill in the air and not the car work in front of you.

Thanks for the good review man. Much appreciated. For anyone else looking for 1 I can do all makes and sizes. These units really provide quality cooling for those areas that the main AC can’t get to. Recommend for bedrooms, man caves, basements. Feel free to call or text. 9085108229.

I have been eyeing a split system for the garage for a few years now, just haven't pulled the trigger.

The ductless split units are 410A. Actually most new residential style units are Unfortunately 410A. Some people still are lucky enough to have R22 units or have been retrofitted to use 407C / 422B aka new 22. 410 runs at a much higher pressure and i feel like it’s more prone to leaks. But it still gets the job done. Some freezers and walk in boxes run on 134a like cars.

I was going to use my portable one and shove the hose under the door or put a dryer vent in the wall.

Are the outer walls and ceiling of your garage insulated?

Yes everything is insulated. I had a portable unit but it just didn't do the job. However it was half the capacity of this new unit. Efficiency-wise this is much better than the portable unit and it will allow me to ditch the massive heater I have.
