Re-introduction

Well, I've been away long enough, I think, to warrant this. I'm Jacob R. (the CB'er, and also now an amateur radio op), have a 1987 Pontiac Firebird Formula (pics below), and have been working like crazy on this car. I work as a Machinist now, at a small shop off of Olden Avenue by Halo Farms, and have been doing that type of work for a while. Used to work at Borg-Warner (over 94% of the workforce laid off in our R&D, which is where I was) so that wasn't the best of job security.

Well, let's see. Firebird was originally a V6 Formula, although I never saw just how pathetically slow that would be. Instead, it now has a 350 L-series block (from a 1984 Monte Carlo ... that's the beauty of a SBC - easy swaps) with a 0.060" bore and a 400 crank (389cid). Heads/Cam and a torker2 with the tranny adjusted for 7600rpm shifts, this baby will SCREAM down a quarter mile, once I get her all fixed up. Right now it's a wiring nightmare, with a dead battery, a dozen 22-gauge wires to power the starter (this guy apparently had a lifetime supply of 22-gauge, no other possible explanation ) and all in-line fuses for every circuit. Plus, did I mention I've pulled ALL the wires out of the crimps with no effort at all?

So, it's time for a fuse box I think, along with some better wiring work. I hope to have the wiring side of things fixed up before I finish this term of college (kinda hard to work on a car and classwork...) so hopefully I'll be seeing you guys at the track this summer!

- JR

Now time for them pics...

Yes, me again. So, wha'cha been up to?

Oh, car is almost ready to go. Maybe another month, if nothing else goes wrong. Then I need to fix the trailer.
