the SS lives again!

After being neglected for quite some time, the SS is back in all its glory. lol

The last few months of sitting in storage wasnt too nice to it. The starter took a dump, battery as well, and in september, it developed a nasty misfire. And with so much to do in sept and right after i got home mid december, i had no time at all to deal with it. But today i made time. I first decided to change all the plugs because i was pretty sure they were fouled from still running on the stock tune lol. And when i did plug #8, i also swapped in a new starter i had ordered back while i was still overseas. After a quick jumpstart, the car came back to life and i took it for a spin, halfway through town, that evil flashing "service engine soon" light came on. So back home i went to track down the misfire. Earlier today, i had also bought a ignition tester(in-line) and a stock replacement coil. I figured maybe a coil had died. Well i started using a timing light to check for spark. I began on the right side. 1 good, 3 good 5..nothing, 7 good back to 5, still nothing. to the other side,2 good, back to 5, nothing. So i put the tester in like between the plug and the wire and fired the car back up..nothing. I then used a large screwdriver to tap the coil and the tester gave a littler flash, so i beat that coil harder... and it came back to life and the tester showed spark.. so yea, i had found a bad coil. I yanked it out and installed the oem one i bought. Then i took the car back out for a spin, and also to get some gas. It was running great, smooth and powerful like it used to be. And the SES light didnt come back on. I had the MSD coils and this was the first issue i had with them. For now, i am buying a single MSD coil to put back on, but if yet another coil goes out, i will switch back to the oem style ones. I missed driving that car soooo much, and now thats its running good again, i guess its time to get it finally tuned hehe.

Be afraid of the MSD coils! I had problems with them so I got rid of them. I was surprised after reading online how many people have problems with the MSD LS coils. Good to hear the car's back up and running, now get a tune!

1. find your Enter key. Use it.
2. Buy a battery tender.

This would only work if there was a cable pass-through in the bubble.....
