Electric fan parts ??

An electric fan will soon reside in my engine compartment, but before then I need to figure out the 'best' way to install it. Its the 'Taurus' fan....2 speed. I've done some research already and found like 6 different ways to install it (mostly off Jeep forums). Just looking for some more ideas - and local supply parts for any temp relays and thermostat controls.

I would say the best way to do it would be a 3 position switch. On for hard off, one to run according to temp, and one constant on. Can't tell you how to wire that up though.

Wayne, get the wiring for the fan itself straight and I'll get you a pic. Is it 3 wires, or 4? What year taurus?

3 wire unit from ( I guess ) an early 90's taurus.

Are the wire colors BRN/ORG, DK BLUE, BLACK?

The diagram is not overly helpful due to the control module – an actual manual might help. So the question is what voltage hits each of the 2 circuits and when. Do they both get full 12v (likely), or does low speed get fewer volts (like low speed in an LS1 car)? Is only one circuit energized at a time (is voltage 0 at the low speed when the high is energized?)

The easy way around is just use high speed. There may be a few ways to have variable speeds, but answering those questions might come in handy. Multiple speeds requires multiple relays and fan switches, or a progressive controller.
