Alternator is shot ..... again!

About 3 weeks ago I was horseplaying in the car rev limiter kicked in and then I noticed my volts dropping off. So I totally chewed up my alternator and bought a new one. I chalked that 1 upto having 75k miles on it. Well just 1 hrs ago I was playing around again and once again my alternator is toast again. I don't have any other electrical issues or any mechanical issues either. I'd like to say it was a bad alternator but I'm wondering if there is an under lying problem. Anyone have any thoughts?
