Engine Piece?

As i was looking at the engine bay of my 92 V6 i noticed a piece missing. looking from the front on the upper left side behind the altenator there is a piece that has if i remember 4 sides almost like a thermostat housing but different. it also had a spring piece in there. As you can see V6 and myself dont go well together. Any info on what Im going to need please let me know.

i wish i thought of that when i was looking at the car in long island ill see if i can find a picture of a v6 engine somewhere
