how would i remove scratches from stainless steel?

so long story short my mom has a cleaning service and a customer is complaining that an employee put scratches into a stainless steal counter top. Personally i think the customer is fabricating some grade A bull but my mom would rather just deal with the problem.
So, what is the best way to remove these scratches?
